I.
Goals Of This Course
|
A. We want you to feel that you belong at The City’s Gate.
|
|
The Church is a family, God’s family.
The desire of every person who has ever lived is to have family structure
for nurture and encouragement and security. Even those who have not
had a good family experience in the past hope that their future family
experience is better. For the Glory of God and by the power of his
Spirit we are an “extended family” for those who become one of our
number.
|
B. We want to inform you about our ministry.
|
|
Your interest in this material, or even in
the Church, shows that you are at least curious about Christianity
and/or The City’s Gate. We believe that God is active in
Harrisburg, and that we have been privileged to experience and participate
in some of His activity. Consequently, we want to tell people about it.
|
C. We want to show you why and how the grace of God, through
Jesus Christ, is changing peoples’ lives.
|
|
Believe it or not, we are talking about having
a personal friendship with the Creator of the universe. Far from
being impossible, all of scripture points to the fact that He has made
Himself known to us in his son Jesus. Nothing is more fulfilling,
satisfying, or radically life changing than knowing God personally.
|
D. We want you to know what it means to be a responsible part of
the family of God at The City’s Gate.
|
People want to know “What are we getting into
here?” when they become a part of any group, and that is especially
true when the group is a religious one. Introduction to The City’s
Gate is designed to let you know what we’re about. Right
up front, we want to tell you what we think it means to be a responsible
part of what God is doing here in Harrisburg. That way, you can make
an informed decision about being involved with us. |
